I really loved my appointment with Dr. Amy Nwankwo. She truly listened to me and made me feel heard. Previous doctors have dismissed my concerns repeatedly, so when I was searching for a new doctor, I looked for a very long time and was very thorough in my research. Dr. Nwankwo lived up to her great reviews and even exceeded my already high expectations. I left my appointment smiling and feeling happy and positive with our treatment plan. Thank you so much Dr. Nwankwo for being such an amazing physician. The office is also very well run. Everyone else was kind and it was just an overall great experience.

I first visited this office in 2024 under AllCare and had a wonderful experience — the staff and doctors were warm, attentive, and made me feel genuinely heard and supported. Unfortunately, since the transition to CloseKnit, I won't continue as a patient. The main challenge has been communication. For example, the Google-listed phone number routes to a CloseKnit customer service line rather than the office directly, which adds extra steps to something as simple as asking a question. When I had a question about my labs, I submitted it through the CloseKnit portal but didn't hear back until I called in — which itself required going through customer service first to get the office number. My provider responded in the CloseKnit portal, but when I had a follow-up question, the whole process over again. My decision to leave as a patient is because of the switch to CloseKnit and not the providers in this location.
I had a medical issue come up unexpectedly and, after learning that my primary care doctor couldn’t see me, I searched for an urgent care facility nearby. I found this Allcare location, and their website clearly stated they accept walk-ins for urgent care—so it seemed like the perfect solution. When I arrived, the front desk was completely unattended and the waiting area was empty. I stood there for several minutes and eventually started calling out “hello” just to see if anyone was even there in the office. After a few more minutes, someone finally came out, only to tell me they were fully booked and not accepting any walk-ins. She was extremely dismissive and showed zero concern or compassion for someone seeking urgent medical care. This was my first and definitely last time visiting this Allcare location. The experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and disappointing.
Dr. Dion was exceptionally kind, attentive, and professional during my visit. She listened carefully, reflected back my concerns to ensure understanding, and made me feel genuinely heard and supported. Her compassion, clarity, and clinical insight made a very difficult conversation feel safe and manageable. I am deeply grateful for her thoughtful care and would highly recommend her to anyone needing health support.
The lab tech beckoned me into the room and pointed at her computer screen. 'You have a $100 charge on your account and I can't do anything for you until you pay that.' I froze. I knew about the charges. I started getting the bills after my annual physical two years ago. It's one of the reasons I skipped my last check-up. I had gone back and forth with LabCorp (on the phone) and AllCare (via the patient portal) for several weeks. Each party was pointing the finger at the other saying they didn't know which labs were triggering the charges - implying that I was one who was supposed to know what coded gobbledigook resulted in my initial bill of $46 (see photo). This went on until I gave up and put my hope in further administrative incompetence magically dissolving the charges. As I stood in the lab draw area trying to contain my white hot rage, the lab tech was already printing out on a full 8 x 12 sheet the customer service number for LabCorp. She had moved on. Never mind that the lab draw was needed to confirm an elevated PSA from the last check-up. Two years ago, I felt similarly enraged. I thought about my good health and supposedly good insurance. Then, I thought about how people who are legitimately sick in this country, who have to stay in crappy jobs just to have insurance and who even then are presented with this kind of slop in place of service. It makes me sick. Well, this time around, I happened to be underemployed and looking for a cause so I'm going to put this rage in a locket and wear it around my neck. And everyday that I happen to brush up against it I will ask myself what I've done lately to disrupt business as usual in the US healthcare system. Today, I'll start with posting this review for AllCare Rhode Island where I go for my check-ups and AllCare H Street where I attempted to get my labs drawn this morning. I'll also post the review for the LabCorp co-located at the AllCare H Street location and the LabCorp where I had my labs done 2 years ago. Let's see if this gets anything moving. If not, no problem. There's tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow.
